IPO-bound digital healthcare platform Practo has announced its entry into the United States market, marking a significant milestone in its global expansion journey. The launch follows a strong debut in the UAE earlier this year and signals Practo’s ambition to build a multi-geography care navigation platform capable of operating across some of the world’s most complex healthcare systems.
According to the company, Practo has already listed more than 200,000 doctors across specialties in the US and has crossed an annualised gross merchandise value (GMV) run rate of $75 million. The platform is supported by over one million registered users, reflecting strong early adoption in a highly competitive and fragmented healthcare market.
Rapid Early Traction in the US
Practo said that traffic in the US has grown nearly six-fold since launch, with monthly active users crossing 300,000. This rapid growth suggests a strong demand for digital tools that simplify healthcare discovery, appointment booking, and care navigation—pain points that remain prevalent even in developed markets like the US.
Early adoption has been particularly strong in dental and mental health services, two segments that have seen rising demand in recent years. The company noted that more than 500 doctors across over 150 clinics, hospitals, and independent practices are already monetised on the platform through paid subscriptions.
This traction is significant given the complexity of the US healthcare ecosystem, which involves multiple payers, providers, and regulatory frameworks. Practo’s ability to gain early momentum indicates that its core value proposition—helping patients make informed and trusted care decisions—resonates beyond emerging markets.
A Care Navigation Platform for Complex Systems
Unlike pure appointment-booking platforms, Practo positions itself as a care navigation company. Its platform aims to help patients discover the right providers, understand care options, and make informed choices based on data, reviews, and outcomes.
Shashank ND, co-founder and CEO of Practo, said the US launch reflects the platform’s ability to solve for “trust, depth, and care navigation even in complex healthcare systems.” He added that Practo is building outcomes-led healthcare infrastructure powered by rich data, with the broader goal of improving health outcomes through more informed and accountable care decisions.
This emphasis on outcomes and trust is particularly relevant in the US, where patients often struggle with opaque pricing, fragmented provider information, and inconsistent quality of care. By aggregating provider data and offering a consumer-friendly interface, Practo aims to bring greater transparency and efficiency to healthcare access.
Building on UAE Success
Practo’s US entry follows its expansion into the UAE earlier this year, where it reportedly saw strong adoption. The UAE launch served as a testing ground for Practo’s international strategy, allowing the company to refine its product, go-to-market approach, and provider onboarding processes in a market outside India.
With the US launch, Practo is taking a bigger leap—entering one of the world’s largest and most sophisticated healthcare markets. Success here could significantly enhance the company’s global brand and open up long-term revenue opportunities.
Strengthening Financial Fundamentals Ahead of IPO
The international expansion comes at a time when Practo has significantly strengthened its financial footing. As reported earlier by Entrackr, the company turned operating EBITDA-positive for the first time in FY25, posting an operating profit of Rs 15 crore compared to a loss of Rs 17 crore in FY24.
Revenue from operations stood at Rs 234 crore in FY25, while GMV remained steady at around Rs 3,500 crore. Importantly, the company also reported positive cash flows, marking a critical inflection point in its journey from growth-focused startup to a more mature, financially disciplined enterprise.
Profitability, combined with global expansion, strengthens Practo’s IPO narrative at a time when public market investors are placing greater emphasis on sustainable unit economics and operational efficiency rather than growth at any cost.
Monetisation and Provider Adoption
In the US, Practo’s monetisation strategy mirrors its approach in other markets, focusing on subscription-based models for healthcare providers. Clinics, hospitals, and independent practices pay to be listed and to access tools that help them attract and manage patients more effectively.
The early monetisation of over 500 doctors across 150+ healthcare facilities indicates that providers see value in Practo’s platform—not just as a discovery tool, but as a channel for patient acquisition and engagement.
Dental and mental health, the two strongest early segments, are particularly well-suited to digital discovery and booking. These specialties often involve repeat visits, private-pay models, and a high degree of consumer choice, making them attractive entry points for a platform like Practo.
Expanding Teams and Exploring Acquisitions
Following its US launch, Practo is expanding its on-ground team to support provider partnerships, business development, and local operations. Building a physical presence is critical in healthcare, where trust, compliance, and relationships play a major role in scaling platforms.
The company is also evaluating strategic acquisitions to deepen provider networks and broaden specialty coverage. Acquisitions could help Practo accelerate growth, gain local expertise, and strengthen its competitive position in international markets.
A Multi-Geography Growth Strategy
With India, the UAE, and now the US in focus, Practo is pursuing a diversified international strategy rather than relying on a single overseas market. India remains its largest market by scale, while the UAE and US offer opportunities for higher revenue per user and stronger monetisation.
This multi-geography approach reduces dependence on any one market and positions Practo as a global healthcare technology company rather than a region-specific platform.
Practo’s launch in the US, backed by a $75 million annualised GMV run-rate and strong early adoption, marks a significant step in its evolution as a global care navigation platform. Coming on the back of improved profitability and positive cash flows, the expansion strengthens the company’s long-term growth story and IPO readiness.
As Practo scales its presence across India, the UAE, and the US, its ability to balance international growth with financial discipline will be closely watched. If successful, the company could emerge as one of the few Indian digital health platforms to build meaningful global scale while sustaining profitability.
