Marsh McLennan Shakes Up India Leadership with Surprise CEO Appointment

In a bold move set to reshape the Indian insurance and consulting landscape, Marsh McLennan has announced the appointment of a new CEO, effective January 2026. The firm’s global strategy is getting a fresh push as Mr Bono takes the reins, promising big changes across risk, reinsurance, capital, and management consulting in India.

Mr Bono, a seasoned industry veteran with over 30 years of experience, brings a track record of transforming regional businesses. He began his career in London and quickly climbed the ranks, joining Marsh in 2010 as Head of Marsh Italy’s risk management practice. Since then, he has held numerous senior positions, including co-CEO of Marsh Italy, and later CEO of the Eastern Mediterranean Region. In 2023, he added Marsh McLennan Italy to his portfolio as CEO.

In his new role in India, Mr Bono will spearhead Marsh McLennan’s strategic development and commercial execution, aiming to strengthen and expand client relationships while delivering the company’s specialized capabilities across the region. Analysts predict that his appointment could trigger a wave of innovative strategies, tapping into emerging market opportunities and expanding the firm’s footprint in India’s rapidly growing risk and consulting sectors.

Industry insiders suggest that Mr Bono’s global perspective, combined with his deep operational experience in Europe and the Mediterranean, will allow Marsh McLennan India to compete more aggressively, not just in insurance and risk solutions but also in consulting and investment advisory services.

With his arrival, clients and stakeholders are eager to see how Marsh McLennan will leverage its market-leading capabilities to tackle India’s complex risk landscape, from reinsurance and capital management to consulting and talent development. The appointment also comes at a time when India’s insurance and consulting markets are experiencing unprecedented growth, making this leadership change both timely and highly strategic.

As the countdown to January 2026 begins, all eyes will be on Mr Bono to see whether he can translate his global success into a transformative era for Marsh McLennan in India.
